Local Winter Retreat
Introducing the Selah Retreat, a weekend for high school students who are genuinely curious about what God has to say to them, and who are hungry for the opportunity to cut out distractions and spend some serious time with Him.
We aren’t saying it won’t be fun; it’ll be a blast. It’s just not for everyone, and that’s okay. We’re limiting the retreat to 20 students to keep it intentional and focused.
We’re theming the weekend around the question, “What’s an important conversation you need to have with God?” We’ll give students tons of guidance for how to explore that question in prayer, through Scripture, with Jesus. There won’t be much “teaching,” but lots of training for how to explore things in prayer with God, and lots of time for students to go and do it.
The cost is $150, and covers transportation, all meals (lunch on Saturday through lunch on Monday), a retreat journal, and a couple of surprises.
We’re staying at a church-turned-AirBnb in Lakeport, CA.
WidowCare Workday
Students & Parents!
Join us on Saturday, November 15 to team up and serve the widows in our community. We'll be breaking into teams and doing some yard work, hanging Christmas lights, cleaning, and doing some other jobs. We've done this for years now, and students always have a great experience, and the widows are always so grateful. It's an easy way to help in a real way.
We have a much higher number of widows signed up this year than in years prior, so we really need the help! We also really need some adults to help out at the houses and drive students. This is a great way to serve with your kids!
We start at 8:30 AM at VCC and are usually wrapped up before noon, depending on how much help we can get.
Chopped
We’re bringing back a student-favorite Local event… Chopped! Students will break off into teams (usually their small groups) to prepare a dinner entree that will be served to a panel of judges in front of all of Local. Students are responsible to bring all ingredients and cooking tools/appliances they need. Join us for dinner with our church family at 6 PM before the event starts at 6:45 PM.
Movin’ On Up Sunday
Move On Up Sunday is happening July 6!
It’s that special time of year when all children and students officially move up to their next grade level. From Pre-K (if entering Kindergarten this fall) through 12th grade, everyone will step into their new classrooms and age-specific environments.
Preschool and younger kids will continue in classes based on their age, but for everyone else, it’s a new chapter and a great time to get connected.
We love watching each child grow, and we’re excited to walk with them through this next season!
