What We Offer
Sunday Services in Friendship Class
Friendship Class is for our friends from Kindergarten through 12th grade and meets during both services at 9 and 11 AM. This is a welcoming, adaptive environment designed especially for kids with special needs and disabilities who thrive in a consistent and calm space with a lesson thoughtfully curated just for them.
Each week, kids enjoy their own Bible story, meaningful worship, a hands-on craft, and engaging activities, all created to help them grow in their understanding of God’s love in a way that meets them right where they are.
Sunday Service Inclusion (K-12th)
Our heart is always inclusion. Whenever possible, we want our friends to join their peers in their respective ministries with the support of a one-on-one buddy or additional aides.
For kids ages birth through fifth grade, Inclusion is available during both the 9 and 11 AM services.
For middle school (6th through 8th grade), Inclusion takes place during the 9 AM service, as middle school meets only at that time.
For high school (9th through 12th grade), Inclusion takes place during the 11 AM service, since high school meets only at that time.
If your child would benefit from a one-on-one aide, please reach out ahead of time to allow us space to thoughtfully find and place the right support. Fill out the New Student Form above to get started.
Sunday Family Rooms (B101 & C112)
Our Family Rooms are available for individuals of all ages who would like to enjoy the service together with their families in a more flexible environment.
One Family Room is located downstairs in room B101, on the corner across from the bathrooms. This room streams the service live, providing a quieter space while still staying connected to everything happening in the Sanctuary.
Our second Family Room is located next to the Friendship Class in room C112, just around the corner. This room also streams the service live and includes adaptive seating options for our friends who may prefer a beanbag, spinning chair, or other alternative seating to help them feel comfortable and regulated during the service.
We hope these spaces serve your family well and help make Sunday mornings accessible and welcoming for everyone.
Raising Abilities
Raising Abilities is a support group for parents of children with disabilities and special needs. Come connect with other parents, share stories, pray together, and find encouragement in a welcoming community.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
When you join us for the first time, please stop by the Welcome Center desk in the back of the church (Families’ Building). We’ll have you fill out a brief form about your family and check in your student(s). Our staff and volunteers will then guide you to your student’s classroom so you feel confident and supported.
Each student receives two name tags and a parent pickup code. One tag goes on your student, and the other is given to their teacher. Parents or guardians should keep the pickup code for pickup time, which helps us ensure a safe and smooth transition at the end of the service. Your student’s pickup tag also includes the room name and number in case you forget where to go. Anyone 16 or older may drop off and pick up students.
-
The Friendship Class is designed for children who benefit from a low-sensory, adaptive environment. Kids in this class still experience all the same elements as other classes—Bible stories, worship, and engaging activities—but in a space created to support students with special needs or disabilities. Each week includes a Bible lesson, musical worship, and hands-on activities to help every child flourish.
-
We strive to be a highly inclusive church. Whenever possible, children with special needs join their age-appropriate classes, with or without a one-on-one aide as needed. Kids bring a “buddy bag” with fidgets, toys, or other tools that help them thrive and succeed in the classroom.
-
Your child’s safety is our top priority. On Sundays and during midweek programs, we have roaming safety officers. All leaders working with children are background-checked, livescanned, and trained as mandated reporters. They follow our child protection policies and take extra precautions to ensure every child is safe. Parents provide a phone number at check-in so we can contact them immediately if needed.
-
Yes! Your child can receive one-on-one support, or a “buddy,” to assist them in class. To start this process, please reach out to kaelee@vc.church for more information.
Serve with Us!
Volunteer with us in Disability Ministry, a ministry that supports individuals with disabilities who are unable to participate in Kids or Student Ministries without an aide or more specialized class. We will train and equip you to serve with confidence and compassion. A few days each year, VCC also hosts special days of fun for children with disabilities to give parents a much-needed break—and we need volunteers like you to help make these joy-filled days possible!
