In this series, we explore five historic and global practices that have always made the Church distinctive. These distinctives cut across political, national, and denominational lines, and have made the Church a contrast community. This strange and benevolent counterculture has been offensive to many and yet attractive to others. Apprentices of Jesus have always been a peculiar people.
Love the Enemy: The Church is called to be a forgiving, sacrificial, and non-coercive people who use power for the good of others.
Love the Poor: The Church is called to care for the poor and suffering, meeting needs with joyful generosity.
Love the Vulnerable: The Church is committed to the sanctity of life, acknowledging people of all ages as image bearers of God.
Love the Body: The Church lives by a biblically defined vision of sexuality, marriage, and gender.
Love the Other: The Church is a multi-racial community that values radical hospitality and crosses ethnic boundaries.
